I read a bunch of his books when my marriage was failing. My therapist gave me Getting the Love You Want and I felt like we were on every page and it was going to save my marriage.
My husband wouldn't read it.
I felt like I had been thrown a lifeline and it wasn't being taken.
I think his books are amazing. Keeping the Love You Find, and the one he wrote for parents as well are both excellent.
I think he is really onto something and it made perfect sense but it's REALLY hard work and you both have to do it.
I feel like his books completely changed my life. They certainly led to a major breakthrough in my own therapy, and I know I will use the principles in my next relationship. I recommend them all the time.
If you want to read one, read the one for singles (I think it's Keeping the Love You Find, but it might be Getting the Love You Want). I learned so much about myself by just re-examining things from my upbringing, and so many pieces started to fall into place.
I am a big fan of his. I recommend those books to friends whose marriages are in trouble so often. And I would recommend anyone about to get married to take one of the workshops.
